- Actually, I wrote that -- not Alex. I'm afraid I cannot go into
- technical specifics of programs that do not belong to me; nor am
- I at liberty to divulge details regarding development environments,
- product development histories, etc. of client companies. You'll just
- have to take me at my word. Or don't.
-
- As I look at what I wrote tho, I _can_ see a nitpick detail of semantics
- that could stand some clarification: Instead of the general term
- 'those', substitute 'Powerbuilder and Visual Basic'. I've never
- rewritten a commercial or industrial Delphi app because I've never seen
- one. That doesn't mean they don't exist - I'm sure they do - but since
- no company I'm aware of uses Delphi I don't have much of an opportunity
- to clean up errant development projects that are based upon it.
-
- I had assumed that since I didn't go into a nauseatingly detailed
- enumeration of overhyped and oversold development environments that a
- reader of my note wouldn't hold me to strict semantics. Since someone
- did, here's clarification: In much the same way that my inadvertant
- omission of mention of MS Access does not imply that I endorse MS
- Access, the inclusion of Delphi in a sentence that was later loosely
- referred to in yet another sentence does not infer that I condemn
- Delphi.
-
- If you think that was easy to write - or if you understood what I wrote,
- or if you just insist on holding people's feet to the fire for every
- vague reference found in the written word, you might think about looking
- into The Law as a vocation. They need people who think in terms of lists
- and esoteric uses of puncuation.
